Authorities in Indonesia have unfolded plans to introduce the Golden Visa Program for foreigners, thus permitting them to acquire residency in this country provided they meet specific conditions and make a financial contribution to the country’s economic sector.

The decision to introduce the Golden Visa scheme has been confirmed by the Tourism Minister and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno while stressing that the Residency by Investment scheme is a red carpet for internationals who plan to invest in the country’s economic sector.
“We will give special talent investors and industry players who want to invest for Indonesia’s economic development towards an advanced Indonesia,” Uno pointed out in this regard in a briefing of the Tourism and Creative Ministry at the Sapta Persona Building in Jakarta, according to an Economic Times report.
It has been clarified that a Second Home Visa is granted to internationals who plan to make Indonesia a second home for a period of five to ten years, while the Golden Visa will particularly be granted to internationals who are talented in specific fields such as health, digital and investment.
Uno has said that the Golden Visa will be introduced in the near future and will officially be announced by the Law and Human Rights Ministry.
In December last year, authorities in Indonesia launched the Second-Home Visa which permits internationals to stay in the country for a period of five to ten years.
The decision was confirmed by Indonesia’s Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna Laoly, stressing that it aims to attract business people as well as investors from countries worldwide to Indonesia.
“Foreigners only need to apply one submission for one visa, one Limited Stay Permit and one Re-Entry Permit altogether. Then, when they enter Indonesian territory through the immigration checkpoint, their Second-Home Limited Stay Permit will be automatically issued and sent electronically to their emails,” Laoly emphasized.
Authorities in Indonesia have confirmed that foreigners or their guarantors are eligible to apply for a Second-Home visa via the Directorate General of Immigration app.
A total of 7.4 million international tourists reached Indonesia after the launching of the electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA), introduced back in November last year. Such a scheme was brought to the country in order to facilitate the process for international visitors to make VoA payments before reaching this country.
