The delegation's visit coincided with the 17th Annual Hedge Funds Asia 2014 conference, between September 2-4, 2014, where Isola spoke of how Gibraltar acts as a gateway to the EU. He also spoke about the importance of compliance with international standards and the importance of robust regulations balanced with the commercial imperative of 'speed to market.'
In a statement after the visit, Isola said: "I am convinced that there is significant traction to be had by Gibraltar in the funds and asset management space in Hong Kong. Our message has been very well received at all the meetings we have attended, and I have to say that I am heartened by the interest shown by our guests at the financial services lunch."
