Guernsey Fund Provider Earns Top Spot At European Awards

Guernsey based fund management company, Legis Global Financial Solutions, gained first place as Best Fund of Hedge Funds Administrator in the category nder USD30 billion at the HFM Week European Services Provider Awards. The awards recognise companies that outperformed their industry peers during 2011.

With recent market volatility and growing investor demands, alternative investment managers are looking for ways to distinguish themselves from the crowd and achieving independent recognition like this offers such a means. According to HFMWeek figures European hedge fund numbers are approaching the 10,000 mark, increasing the standards and the competition for asset growth and performance to new levels. This is the fifth annual HFMWeek European Performance Awards which aims to find the top hedge fund strategies, newcomers and fund of hedge funds.

The awards were determined by a number of senior industry representatives who examined the companies based on financial progress, growth and innovation from a number of different business areas to decide on the winners of each category. Legis Group Managing Director, Stuart Platt-Ransom and Patricia White, Fund Services Managing Director, accepted the award on behalf of the company saying, e are pleased to accept this accolade for our fund services business, which continues to grow and go from strength to strength. We aim to differentiate ourselves on client service so it is very rewarding to receive this award from such a respected hedge fund publication, which recognises the expertise and quality of service provided by our team. /p>

During the last three years Legis has almost doubled its workforce, with approximately 60 employees in its Guernsey headquarters. In response to the award HFMWeek said egis has become a force to be reckoned with in the administration space. The judges were quoted as saying t is a good quality business providing a sophisticated service for its clients, according to their official press release.

Ogier was awarded 'best offshore law firm', while Maples and Calder received an award for best client service by an offshore law firm, both companies awards were for their funds services business. It was the third time in six months that Ogier has been named est Offshore Law Firm by the international hedge fund industry. The two other awards came from the 2011 Hedge Funds Review Service Provider Awards in December and the 2011 HFMWeek US Hedge Fund Services Awards in October. e have worked hard to build a est-in-class hedge fund practice, so it is especially gratifying to see the industry we serve acknowledging our commitment to excellence, said Peter Cockhill, partner, Ogier Cayman and head of Ogier Global Funds. Last year Ogier expanded its operations to Shanghai, making it the first offshore firm to open an office in mainland China. Ogier recently acted for Naibu, the 10th largest local sportswear brand in China, on its recent £68 million IPO in April 5 on the London Alternative Investment Market.
