Grenada Sets Up Independent Customs Appeals Body

Grenada has announced the new Customs Appeals Commission is now fully functioning. The Commission was formally created in the first quarter of 2017 under Section 205 of the Customs Act, passed in 2015. The Commission will act as an independent review body on customs decisions taken by the Comptroller of Customs and Excise Division. It is intended to give consumers greater due process and to redress the balance of power between importers and the Comptroller. Malta Voices Support For EU Tax Initiatives

Bermuda Insurers Pay Over USD200bn To US Clients

Bermuda reinsurers have paid out USD208.7bn to US policyholders over the past 20 years, according to commercial market claims data newly published by the island's financial services regulator, the Bermuda Monetary Authority. The data shows that from 1997 to 2006, claims payments to US policyholders for large catastrophes, related property insurance, and general liability losses totalled USD56bn, rising to USD152.7bn between 2007 and 2016.
